U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-9th, reconfirmed Friday that she would be interested in filling the empty U.S. Senate seat of President-elect Barack Obama. And, she said, she could command the kind of statewide support that could keep the seat when it comes up for election in 2010. But Schakowsky, who first evinced interest in the position last April, suggested she wouldn't lobby actively for it now.
